This has been a BEAUTIFUL SPRING and because of the cool weather our blossoms have held longer and ARE a little late coming…when you read this Cheverly will be in bloom.
Have you dug the plants for the sale? Have you thought about where to plant the ones that you buy? I know that there will be some herbs that do well…the Globe Basil should be in everyone’s garden for it’s flavor and we should have some for sale. Remember to get your plants there early as it is an early sellout….also there will be baskets for Mother’s Day or a reward for yourself.
We have a number of things on the agenda for May…The Plant Sale on the 7th …and everyone who reads this PLEASE HELP with the corsages on May 13th at 6:30PM at Fogel Hall in the church…that is the 3rd floor. This is a VERY simple task and we do it for the mothers of POLICE PERSONS who died on duty during the 2004 year. These MOMS come from all over the USA and there is a tribute and other activities by the President and other groups in Washington for the week. Questions? call Oliver Smith at 301-341- 9762. The Cheverly Garden Club contributes, on their own, the corsages for the mothers…that is where some of the monies we earn at the Flea Market and the Plant Sale is spent. It is a VERY EASY project under the supervision of Judy Lucas, so please help even if you are not a member but are reading this…it only takes
a few hours at most and it is a FEEL GOOD project.
Barbara Pejokovich has reserved the Town Pavilion for the picnic on May 16th for members… please let her know how many and what you are bringing to share. Remember your place setting is your responsibility.
BIG THANKS to those who have worked at the Memorial Garden and planted bulbs and those like the Foleys and the Casey-Kneipp couples who have worked on some of the town gardens. This is why we need NEW MEMBERS who can help…you live here and plant here, which makes Cheverly so special.
Are you interested in a Day Trip? We need help to fill a bus and our last one was successful and cheap compared to driving and other trips are planned…we do it for cost…let us know. Any questions, call Ann Gardenhour at 301-773-1991, and please come to our meetings.
