RAIN GARDEN DEMONSTRATION PROJECT
CUMC invites you to check out progress on the two rain gardens under construction in the church parking lot. Once the weather warms up, they will be planted with shrubs, trees and flowers to filter parking lot run-off prior to its entry into the storm water system which opens to the stream in Woodworth Park less than 3 blocks away. These rain gardens, or bioretention cells, were designed by the county as part of a series of demonstration projects to reduce polluted storm water runoff. Thanks also to the Chesapeake Bay Trust and scores of town residents for support of additional parking lot upgrades. You may support future projects of the Trust through the tax check off on the state income tax form.
