June is busting out all over and even though it took awhile this spring to warm up our ground the bushes and flowers were beautiful and held their colors for such a long period. We THANK each of you for digging plants, working the Sale, and BUYING. We were very successful...and just hope that your gardens will flourish with what you purchased. We have people in Cheverly who not only bought but brought quantities of quality plants who are not members but love Cheverly and gardening. We are rewarded when so many are looking for perennials for NEW BEDS...keep going and planting... pass along plants that are Cheverly grown.
The vegetable plants are amazing and we thank Ann & Oswald Barsi who also printed descriptions and directions... they are neighbors of other plant givers Alice and Jacque Hopkins on Arbor.
Don’t forget that if a bush blooms before June TRIM it as soon as the blooms fade. We learned that at the last meeting in April.
We will only be having one more meeting and that will be to do the arrangements for shut-ins. This will be done at the Foley’s home...bring your cutting tool and have a fun time arranging. You will receive information in a mailing as to time. If you have some cutting flowers, snip and bring them...please do not cut right before you come they need to be hardened so the arrangements will last.
Keep an eye on information if we are able to set up a trip... everyone in town and friends of all are invited, we like to fill a bus. Enjoy your plants…water anything close to you that you can help keep alive. Call if you have any questions, 301-773-1991, and PLAN TO COME TO THE NEXT MEETING IN THE FALL.
