Happy New Year...when this is being written we have NO IDEA what the weather will be like when you
read it. Just remember that if it has beendry you may still need to water some outside plants...You may need to check for the birds needing both water and food...and you need to be careful with what you put on the walks to melt ice and snow. Think about the environment and what will be going down the drains and could do damage to your lawn and plantings. Do you have NEW Spring catalogues yet? It is not hard to get on mailing lists... don’t throw them away as you would be surprised how nice they present information and you can carry those booklets to the nursery when stock arrives in March and April.
Those who visited Longwood Gardens were treated to a picture perfect day and trip. Everything worked out for us and it was so nice not to drive home but to have the comfort of the bus. We hope to do another bus trip and invite non-members along although it would be nice if you would give the club a try 2005. The group working with Beaver Dam is planning a workshop on how to build a RAIN GARDEN BARREL….look for the date to come and where it will be held.
Did you know that in Davidsonville there is a native plant garden you can visit? Look for more information on that and maybe we can form a car trip in the Spring. By now we have enjoyed and put behind 2004 and are ready for 2005...In May we have the Plant Sale and that is always a sell out. Our next meeting is January 17th at 7:00PM at the Cheverly United Methodist Church up on the 4th floor in the Parlor...we are not a dress up group and we invite ALL. If we want to keep the Garden Club ACTIVE we need new and active members with new ideas and helping hands.
Enjoy a Safe and Healthy 2005 and remember it is not that long before we plant...rake...fertilize...cut...plant...etc. and TAKE TIME TO ENJOY!!! Are you using the information we received about out holiday plants?
