Happy New Year! Cheverly Day is only 5 months away! In previous newsletters, we have solicited ideas for new events and attractions. Our meeting on January 11th at 7:30PM in town hall is a great time to come and present those great ideas you’ve been sitting on for the past few years.
Cheverly Day Artist Showcase: We are considering the addition of a Cheverly Day Artist Showcase that would feature local artists and their work. If you have ideas or suggestions about such an event, or would be interested in helping plan or participating in such an event, please contact John Conwell at (301) 773-4501 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cheverly Day Entertainment Plans Bigger Than Ever: This year Cheverly Day will expand to two (count 'em - 2!) stages for the first time ever. One stage will present solid professional-caliber bands featuring a broad range of the music Cheverly loves. We plan to have Latin, African, Jazz, and R&B all represented on the Main Stage. The big news is the addition of the local artists "Stage 2". Throughout the day, local, amateur and semi-pro musicians of every style will present their music and their compositions for Cheverly Day. We haven't set the line-up yet for Stage 2. If you are a musician, a composer or a friend of one of any age, we invite and encourage you to submit a brief description of your proposed presentation, your background and a demo on CD, tape, DVD, or MP3 to email@example.com. Performance slots run 15-50 minutes throughout the day. All styles and ages welcome. Hear you at Cheverly Day!
Cheverly Day Program Book: We are always looking for ideas for news features for the Cheverly Day program. We want the program to be an item that is kept on coffee tables or in the bookshelf, not tossed away on June 11th. We hope that many of you still have your 2004 edition, but if you don’t, we’re going to try our best to make the 2005 book one that you won’t soon throw out! Suggestions for ideas – deadline March 15th to firstname.lastname@example.org. Want to write the story yourself? Copy deadline is April 15th to ensure consideration. If you are writing something specifically for the Cheverly Day publication, please drop a line to email@example.com to ensure that your idea hasn’t already been covered and will receive
fair consideration for publication.
Cheverly Day Website: www.cheverlyday.com is updated and ready to provide the latest news and information about Cheverly Day 2005. If the website isn’t up to date, then it’s because the newsletter deadline was wicked early for the January program, and there must have been some bizarre cold snap, or the dog ate the server. Yeah, that’s the ticket. If the web site isn’t up to date, it’s because the dog ate the server, and check back soon.
Volunteers Always Needed: For jobs big and small, contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Need service hours before June 11th? Contact us in February or March.
Return of the Cheverly Day Patron Program: It’s Back! Even if you can’t volunteer your time, you can
still be an important contributor to the success of the event by becoming a Cheverly Day Patron. Last year, Cheverly Day Patrons contributed nearly $1,000 to the event. Your contributions provide the committee financial flexibility to increase up front expenditures for Cheverly Day. This allows us to lock in quality entertainment, more exciting children’s amusements, and investment in new ideas to expand Cheverly Day’s appeal. Clip and mail the form in this newsletter, and become a Cheverly Day Patron today!
