Profiles of Candidates for Ward 1

Brendan Heneghanheneghan.jpg
My wife Kate & I and our son Liam moved to Ward 1 last year after living in Ward 3 for four years. Kate and I both grew up in this area. My family lived in West Lanham Hills and I went to St. Mary’s Grade School and DeMatha High School. My wife grew up here in Cheverly and graduated from St. Ambrose.

I received a B.A. in Production Management from the University of Maryland College Park. Currently, I am a stay at home father who sometimes works as a carpenter. Me and my family enjoy traveling to places near and far, but are always glad to return to our tree lined, brick home in Cheverly. Having bought and restored two houses in Cheverly, I have come to appreciate the town’s parks, its services and its people. I hope that by serving on the town council I can do my part to preserve this neighborhood experience for our children. I believe that common sense would be my strongest contribution as a representative to the town council.

Stephen Hofmann
hofmann.jpgIt is my humble honor to place my name in candidacy for the Cheverly, Maryland Town Council, Ward 1. I have been approached by a significant number of our neighbors who expressed their desire in my representation of their concerns. After much thought and discussion with my wife Angela and even my twin boys, Marshall and Stevie, I have decided to offer myself to the betterment of our home, Cheverly. To this end, I dedicate my lifelong experience in local, state, and federal government to find innovative ideas and cohesive consensus building. Please allow me to outline my vision, my experience, and my promise.

My Vision - If elected, I will work to:
• Keep our neighborhoods safe for all our families;
• Maintain our steady rise in the value of our community and our property;
• Have an equitable balance in sufficient city services while maintaining low taxes;
• Work with all members of Ward 1 and Cheverly; and
• Successfully represent Cheverly before the County, State, and Federal governments in order to put our tax dollars to use in Cheverly and the surrounding infrastructure.

My Experience—Born to politically active parents, my motivation lies in the experiences of my mother who survived the Nazis and the bombing raids during World War II. I understand when a civilized society becomes brainwashed by crafty propaganda, and how “evil flourishes when good men do nothing”. I will not sit back and do nothing. I will fight for you, our families and our neighbors.  I could list each of my government jobs, but in summary, I have worked with city, county, state, and federal governments for over 20 years. I understand the appropriation process, city codes and state regulations. I work on a daily basis with Congress and almost every federal agency that could directly affect Cheverly. I will deliver effective results.

My Promise—It is my promise to never stray from my principles. Let us work together for a safe, efficient and cost effective Cheverly. We live in a beautiful neighborhood which I would be honored to represent.
