Cheverly Garden Club
…. Brrrrr…as I write this I am cold…it is not chilly it is cold and I think even our early bulbs know it. Thanks to the members who planted the Memorial Garden at CUMC there will be blooms soon…check it out. On Cheverly Avenue some of Mr. Bellamy’s camellias are brown around the edges…just trying to rush Spring. We all have so much to do and we are lucky to have had the speakers that have been coming to the meetings to help us.

On Monday, April 18th at 7:00PM on the 4th floor at CUMC, Audrey Whitney will be speaking on “The Art of Pruning”. She is very well known in the Metro area and represents the Landscape Design Council. Everyone, members and visitors interested in gardening are invited to attend. This is a FREE event and the chance to hear a lecture in Cheverly that will offer so much is a real treat. YOU JUST DON’T BREAK IT OFF…learn the right way to get the most from your bushes and trees and give them the chance to produce healthy growth for you to enjoy. If this comes to you before April 1st…GIVE and BUY at the FLEA MARKET.

Remember that the Plant Sale will be on Saturday, May 7th at 8:00AM. Dig and pot as soon as it warms up so we can share some of our plants with others in Cheverly. This is always a sellout… So let us know what you will have to share and maybe you could plan to work. there will also be hanging baskets and annuals for sale BUT it is the “Pass Along Plants” that people come to buy. When you read this I think there will be blossoms and you’ll see your neighbors again… come to our meetings, we welcome each of you and if you ever needed a smile you should have joined the Rain Barrel Workshop…Have you seen any of them? there is also an opportunity for you to see work in progress in the SW area of the parking lot at the church…two rain gardens are being constructed. See you outside…
