Traffic Calming Test Around Gast Park

IN AN EFFORT TO ADDRESS CONCERNS REGARDING SPEEDING AROUND GAST PARK
THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL HAVE APPROVED A PROPOSAL TO EXPERIMENT WITH SOME POTENTIAL
TRAFFIC CALMING ELEMENTS.

ONE OF THE PROPOSED ELEMENTS IS THE INSTALLATION OF A STOP SIGN SOUTHBOUND ON PARKWAY AT THE INTERSECTION
WITH INWOOD NEAR 3100 PARKWAY.  THE INTENT IS TO SLOW TRAFFIC TRAVELING PAST THE PARK
AND CONTINUING SOUTHBOUND ON PARKWAY.

A SECOND ELEMENT IS A REDUCTION IN THE AMOUNT OF SPACE AVAILABLE TO SPEEDING VEHICLES
TRAVELING NORTHBOUND ON PARKAY FROM FOREST ROAD.  THE INTENT IS TO SLOW TRAFFIC TRAVELING TO THE PARK
NORHTBOUND AND SLOW TRAFFIC TRAVELING FROM INWOOD AND KILMER TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND TO FOREST.

STAFF WILL BE MONITORING THIS AREA TO SEE IF THE SECOND ELEMENT HAS AN IMPACT ON SPEEDING.
IF THERE IS A REDUCTION, A MORE PERMANENT CURBED CUT-OUT WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR INSTALLATION.

YOUR INPUT IS WELCOME REGARDING THESE TWO PROPOSED ELEMENTS.
FEEL FREE TO EMAIL YOUR COUNCILMEMBER.
